The new US ambassador arrives in Cairo today

The New US ambassador to Egypt David Welsh arrives today in Cairo to present his credentials to the Egyptian government in preparation to start his term of office in succession of Daniel Kurtzers who is now working as the US ambassador for Israel.

Welsh has a long history of work in the American diplomacy. The last of which was his the US under secretary of state for international organizations affairs in the period between 1998- 2000.

Welsh also worked in several embassies in the Middle East. He was a political advisor at the US embassy in Amman in 1986- 1988. Earlier he worked as the chairman of the political administration at the US embassy in Damascus in 19884- 1988. He also worked as a specialist in the Syrian and Lebanese affairs at the US middle East and north Africa department in 1981- 1983.
