Egyptian FM confers with US official

It was announced in Cairo on Thursday that the Egyptian foreign minister Ahmad Maher met with the US under secretary of state David SatterField in the course of his current tour to the Middle East region.

Following the meeting Satterfield said expressed in a pre-prepared statements that his talks were very good and dealt with several issues on the region and bilateral relations between the two countries.

He added that he renewed the fact that the US is committed to a great extent to maintain the strategic relations and dialogue with Egypt, noting in this regard to the assertion made by the US secretary of state Colin Powel that Egypt is considered an important partner not only at the level of the region but also at the international level.

Meantime, the commander of the central leadership of the US military Gen. Tommy Francs will arrive tomorrow ( Saturday) in Cairo leading a military delegation.
