Floods in Sudan

Floods which took over the Sudanese province of Sanar on Tuesday destroyed the villages of Aljazeyer, al-Azazeh, Wed al-Neel and Wed al-Jazouli while the waters of the " blue Nile " river covered several areas in al-Jazira state.
The Sudanese daily al-Rai al-Am said on Wednesday that the increased rates of the water of the Nile and the heavy rainfall on Tuesday resulted in inflicted damages in properties and human casualties in al-Khartoum and al-Jazira states.
The paper quoted the chamber of the civil defense operations that three persons drowned in "Khour Abi Anja" and two water pools in " Libya market" area and that the waters of the Blue Nile covered several areas in the provinces of al- Hassahis, al-Kamilin, and al-Batanh in al-Jazira province.
The ministry of building up and construction said that it has been facing difficulty in ensuring the flow of the rain waters which heavily fell in Khartoum and reached 28 mm and that the increase in the level of the Nile waters levels resulted to that it could not contain the waterfall. The ministry added that the water might also threaten Touti island, situated between the Blue and White Nile rivers.
