Ebeid, Moussa discuss AL's structural reform
Egypt-Regional, Politics, 8/15/2001
Egyptian Prime Minister Atef Ebeid discussed with Secretary-General of the Arab League (AL) Amr Moussa the aspects of AL's structural reform and the role played by Arab Socio-Economic Council.
In a statement following the meeting, Moussa said that his talks with Ebeid had also dwelt on the current situation in the occupied Palestinian territories.
He stressed the necessity of joint international action to reach peaceful settlement between the Palestinians and the Israelis in accordance with the international legitimacy.
Neither the Palestinians nor the Arabs would give up to the Israeli practices at any cost, Moussa stressed. He pointed out, "If it is up to Israel, it will impose an Israeli-styled peace that will last for good".
Israel would never reach its pursued goal either by applying inhuman practices or by depending on the international superpower, Moussa added.
"If Israel aims at reaching an acceptable settlement that is based upon the international legitimacy and inked agreements, both Israel and the Arabs will take back their rights," he noted.
However, he added Israel till that moment has not believed in that "This has been the major political predicament slid by world countries in Mideast."
