About 43,000 foreign vehicles obtained Moroccan number plates

A total of 42,910 imported vehicles obtained Moroccan number plates in 2000 after customs clearance, including 25,584 second-hand vehicles, said the Moroccan customs administration.
The number of new vehicles declined by 9.5 % compared to 1999 while the number of second-hand vehicles grew by 2.5%. In the same year, the customs-clearance operation brought to the customs administration 1.99 Billion DH (about $ 180.9 million).
According to the customs newsletter, 91.9% of customs-cleared second-hand vehicles are over 5 years of age, and only 1.8% are less than one year of age.
