Israel refuses to settle Lahd hirelings, because they are not Jews
Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 8/15/2001

The Israeli deputy minister of settlement Yuli Olshtine has announced that his ministry deliberately refuses to give the Israeli identity to more than 5,000 hirelings who fled to Israel during the retreat of the Israeli army from South Lebanon.

In an interview with the Israeli radio on Tuesday, Olshtine said that his ministry refuses even considering those ( hirelings) as temporary citizens or to give them financial support and that the Israeli nationality should be only given to the Jews. He added that the task of his ministry should be only in the framework of encouraging settlement and providing services to the Jews and bringing in many of them from all parts of the world.

He also said that the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon also refuses giving those Lebanese the Israeli identity or considering them " temporary" citizens in Israel.
