Palestinian, AL representative at UN urge return back of Palestinian sovereignty on Orient House
Palestine-Regional, Politics, 8/15/2001

The Palestinian Observer at the UN Naser al-Qidawa has announced that the Palestinian side launched a diplomatic campaign that aims at forcing the UN Security Council to pressure Israel to force it to end its occupation of Beit al-Sharq (Orient House) and other Palestinian establishments.

In statements he made on Monday al- Qidwa added that what the Palestinians want is to convince the 15 member states of the UN Security Council to return back the situation to what it had been before, end the Israeli occupation of " the Orient House" and rescuing the situation in the ME.

He explained that the Palestinian side will hold talks with all members of the UN Security Council especially the 5 permanent member states to release a resolution calling on Israel to end its occupation to the headquarters of the Palestinian Authority. He expressed hope over the possibility of reaching an agreement to this effect.

For his part, the representative of the Arab League AL at the UN Hussein Hasounah announced that the representatives of the Arab group at the UN held a meeting on late Monday evening in which they expressed their total support for the Palestinian demand to that the UN Security Council to release a resolution calling for the return back of the Palestinian sovereignty on " Orient House" and other Palestinian establishments.

Hasounah stressed that Israel's occupation of these headquarters constitutes a violation to previous resolution issued by the UN Security Council and reveals Israel's non- commitment to the agreements signed with the Palestinians.
