High level Egyptian delegation in Washington for consuiltations on ME issues

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has assigned a political delegation for holding consultations with the US administration officials on the volatile issues of the region, in the light of the occupation by the Israeli troops of Orient House in Jerusalem in what is considered as a violation of all agreements which have been signed by Israelis and Palestinians.
This decision was taken at a meeting by the political group which included Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, the Minister of Defence and Military Production, Safwat A1 Sherif Minister of Information, Ahmed Maher Foreign Minister, Osama A1 Baz, the Political Advisor to the President and Nabil Fahmy, the ambassador of Egypt to the United States.
The political delegation which flew for Washington on Monday includes Osama A1 Baz, Ambassador Nabil Fahmy who was on a short visit in Cairo, and Ambassador Maged Abdel Fattah the Secretary of the President for Information and follow up.
The delegation will have talks with Secretary of State Colin Powell and the US National Security Advisor C. Rice.
The delegation will have talks in Washington on means of facing the volatile situation in the occupied Palestinian land.
The US administration had asked President Mubarak, in reply to his message to President Bush to provide an opportunity for an elaborate discussion of the ways whereby stability can be restored, as an initial step towards resuming negotiations between the Israelis and Palestinians and putting an end to the deteriorating situation in the occupied territories.
Following the meeting, Minister of Information Safwat A1 Sherif said President Mubarak reviewed with his aides vital reports on the Mideast situation in the light of Israel military political policies and retaliatory acts.
"He also reviewed developments regarding the occupation of the Orient House which represents a clear violation of all agreements signed between Israeli and Palestinians sides," he said.
In light of Egyptian and American views, President Mubarak has decided to dispatch this delegation to the United States to hold talks and consultations on such proposals and coordinate stances regarding dealing with such serious events." he added.
