Israeli occupation of Palestine in its last hours
Egypt-Palestine, Politics, 8/14/2001

Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmad Maher said that the Israeli occupation of Palestine is experiencing its last hours.

In a two-hour dialogue with Egyptian youth on last Monday, Maher said that events that take place eastward are part of Egypt's national security concerns.

Maher described as hostile the Israeli policies against Palestinian people and said that Egypt firmly supports the Palestinian people.

He warned that the more Israeli hostilities, the sooner the occupation will be eliminated.

Maher voiced conviction that the Israeli occupation is at its last breath as it has turned more violent.

He added that no matter how many Palestinians are killed, there will always be a Palestinian left to resist with stones, armed with belief in their rights.

The role of Egypt is to help achieve peace, independence and freedom for the Palestinians, using international and regional contacts, said Maher.

The current Israeli government is not committed to law and thinks it can impose its own laws and dodge all world values for conviction that it is the strongest, he said.

The Israeli government has gone so much beyond many red lines.

Peace advocates in Israel started to show up once again underlining that this policy is not only violating laws but also harming interests of Israel, he said.

Maher referred to a visit made by former Israeli Justice Minister Yussi Beilin, a pro-peace figure in Israel, on Sunday.
