High-level Egyptian contacts for halting explosion of situation
Egypt-Palestine, Politics, 8/13/2001

The Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak will hold a meeting today with the political group for examining deterioration of the situation in the occupied Arab territories after the latest Israeli escalation, its occupation of the Orient House and sustained acts of violence in the occupied lands.

The meeting comes in the light of intensive Egyptian efforts and contacts aimed at containing the situation and urging all parties to stop violence, bloodshed, to return to dialogue and to accept international legitimacy resolutions.

Cairo's Al Akhbar newspaper learnt that Egyptian contacts include dispatching President Mubarak's special envoy to meet US President George Bush and the US Administration officials for explaining the latest deterioration and its implications to the peace process and urging the US Administration to carry out international legitimacy resolutions.

These contacts come at the time when Israel has maintained its challenge to the world.

Meanwhile, Ozi Landau, the Director of the Israeli Public Security said that Israel would keep Orient House forever adding Israeli laws and sovereignty would be applied to Orient House adding if Israel left it, activities to be made in it would conform with Israeli law.

He said Israel's security is more important than international criticism and condemnations.
