Arafat in Cairo Wednesday to take part in extraordinary meeting of Arab information ministers

Palestinian Leader Yasser Arafat is expected in Cairo on, Wednesday to take part in the emergency meeting of Arab Information Ministers which kicks off on Wednesday at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo under Lebanese Minister of Information Ghazi A1-Aridi.

Minister of Information Safwat Al-Sherif will lead Egypt's delegation to the meeting.

The meeting will formulate a common Arab Information attitude towards events in occupied Palestinian territories, and in particular in Jerusalem.

Sherif, in view of current and escalating conditions in Palestinian territories, had called for an emergency meeting of Arab Information Ministers to discuss a common information plan in support of the Palestinian attitude and presenting facts to world public opinion.

The Minister of Information contacted Arab Information Ministers, foremost among whom was Lebanese Minister of Information, chairman of the current session of the Arab Information Ministers' Council.

The call was welcomed on a large scale at the Arab level and it was decided to hold an emergency meeting of Arab Information Ministers on Wednesday.
