Al-Shara confers with Satterfield

The Foreign minister Farouk al-Shara' on Saturday received the US under secretary of state for the Near East affairs David Satterfield and members of the accompanying delegation.

Present at the meeting were the director of the private offices department at the foreign ministry Mawafak Nassar and Hamzeh Hamzeh the director of America department at the foreign ministry and the Syrian charge de affairs in Damascus David Perce.

Talks dealt with developments of conditions in the region and the policy of repression and terrorism conducted by Israel against the Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian territories.

In this respect, al-Shara stressed that Israel alone shoulders the responsibility over the deterioration in the region because of its continued ignorance of the international legitimacy and its denunciation to UN resolutions. A situation which resulted in burying all hopes to achieve peace in the region.

The foreign minister also renewed his call to the UN to shoulder its international responsibilities and to play a neutral and honest role towards issues in the region.
