PLO: no Palestinian political detainee in Syria

The official spokesman for the political department of the Palestine Liberation Organization ( PLO) Anwar Abdul Hadi has stressed that there are not any Palestinian political detainees of any group in Syria.

In a statement he made in Damascus on Thursday, Abdul Hadi said that only 30 persons who violated the law among the Palestinians are in the Syrian jails and are dealt with like any Syrian citizen.

Abdul Hadi explained that what was published by certain media on the existence of Palestinian detainees in Syria is but rumors aiming at damaging the development of the fraternal relations between Syria and the Palestinians.

Abdul Hadi said that the visit of the secretary of the PLO executive committee Mahmoud Abbas to Damascus was successful by all means.
