Africa's basketball championship: Morocco wins over Mali, but no change in ranking

The Moroccan basketball team snatched a victory Wednesday over Mali 88-83 at the fourth day of the African basketball championships held in Morocco August 4-12.

The other matches played in group 1 resulted in a victory of Egypt over Tunisia 84-77, and a win of Cote d'Ivoire over Mozambique 75-60.

After the fourth day matches, Egypt, which secured qualification to the semi-finals, is taking the lead of group 1 with 8 points, followed by Tunisia (7 points), and Cote d'Ivoire (6 points). Then come Morocco (6 points), Mali (5 points) and Mozambique (4 points).

In group 2, Algeria (7 points) is still taking the lead, despite a defeat Wednesday by Nigeria 59-58. It is followed by Angola (7 points), which had a win over Senegal 68-60, and by Nigeria (7 points).

Senegal comes in 4th with 6 points and is followed by the Central African Republic (5 points), which squeezed Wednesday South Africa 77-41. South Africa comes in last with 4 points.
