Al-Assad confers with Lebanese minister, accepts credentials of five ambassadors

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Wednesday at al-Shaab palace accepted the credentials of five new ambassadors accredited to Syria. They are Evan Orbeina Ortith Ambassador of the republic of Venezeula, the ambassador of Belarus, Ahmad Abdullah al-Hosni the Ambassador of the Yemeni Republic; the Ambassador of Argentina and Aref Shahed Khan, the Ambassador of the republic of India.

The ceremony held for that purpose was attended by the foreign minister Farouk al-Shara, the minister for presidential affairs Haitham Dweihi and the Presidium secretary Zuheir Ghazzale.

Then, in separate meeting, the President received each of the five ambassadors and exchanged friendly talks with them on relations between Syria and each of their countries.

The President expressed readiness to provide all possible support from Syria to enabling them develop relations between Syria and their states.

Earlier in the day, the President received the Lebanese minister of transport Najib Meiqati.

Talks dealt with fraternal relations between the two countries and issues of mutual concern.

Later in the day, the prime minister Muhammad Mustafa Miro received minister Meiqati. The meeting was attended by the minister of transport Makram Obeid and the secretary general of the Syrian- Lebanese higher council.

Talks dealt with fraternal cooperation relations between the two countries and means of boosting them in various fields in the interests of the two peoples in Syria and Lebanon.
