Senegalese interior minister visits Morocco to enhance bilateral cooperation
Morocco-Senegal, Politics, 8/8/2001

Senegalese minister of the interior, general Mamadou Niang, started Tuesday a work visit to Morocco, at the invitation of his Moroccan peer, Ahmed El Midaoui.

General Niang told the Moroccan TV channel RTM upon arrival that such visits are natural given the longstanding ties of friendship, brotherhood and cooperation binding the two countries.

Mutual trust has always governed relations between the two countries' leaders, peoples and officials, General Niang said underscoring the ties between king Mohammed VI and President Abdoulay Wade of Senegal.

The Senegalese official also paid a moving tribute to the memory of the late King Hassan II.

General Niang and El Midaoui will discuss issues of mutual concern and questions falling within the prerogatives of their respective departments, a statement by the Moroccan ministry of the interior had said.
