Egypt-Israel, Economics, 8/7/2001
Some 37 member of parliament in the Egyptian People's Assembly (PA) have submitted urgent requests to the government asking for liquidating all Israeli investments and contributions in the Egyptian projects and to expel the Israeli experts from all Egyptian positions, immediately.
The Egyptian members of parliament noted the need of opening plenary debates between the parliament and the government in a plan to liquidate the Israeli economic presence in Egypt and to agree on details of a set plan according to which shares of the Israeli contributions in the standing companies will be debated for Arab and Egyptian investors ( to buy them).
The United Arab Emirates UAE daily al-Itihad issued on Monday quoted member of the Egyptian parliament Farouk Mutwali as asserting that the step to sell the share of the Israeli company in the oil refinery ( Medour) whose file was closed should be the beginning as inaugurating a series of measures to liquidate the Israeli economic presence in Egypt.
The Egyptian members of parliament also called for halting all flights of the Israeli al-Al airline to Cairo and banning it from entering the Egyptian airspace, noting the Egyptian measure to halting the Egyptian air flights to Israel and confining to the flights of foreign airliners to Israel.
