Turkey-Israel, Politics, 8/7/2001
The Turkish Journalists and Writers Union has stressed the rejection and denunciation of the whole Turkish people to the visit the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon will hold tomorrow to Ankara, describing him ( Sharon) as a shame " for humanity."
A statement released by the Turkish journalists and writers on Monday indicated Sharon's terrorist records and the crimes he committed against the unarmed civilians in the Sabra and Shatila camps in Beirut and in South Lebanon and the occupied Arab territories, stressing that even infants were the target of Sharon's hostility.
Deputy chairman of the Union Muhammad Salai voiced in a statement to SANA's correspondent in Ankara the solidarity of the Turkish people with the Palestinian people "who confront bravely the Israeli tanks and artilleries by stones."
In the context of their refusal to Sharon's visit, the Turkish Journalists and writers held a photograph exhibition including photographs depicting the bloody crimes committed by Sharon in Sabra and Shatilla and also photos for the heroic Palestinians in their Intifada.
