Egyptian FM summons the US ambassador over Israeli practices

The Egyptian foreign minister Ahmad Maher on Monday in Cairo summoned the American ambassador in Cairo Rino Harnich and asked him to inform his government on the need to take a tough position towards the flagrant Israeli aggressions against the Palestinian people in the occupied Arab territories and not to be confined to make telephone calls and contradictory statements.

In statements he made on Monday, Maher said following his meeting with the US official that the US administration owns the various means to force Israel to give up its provocative and aggressive practices against the unarmed Palestinian people.

Maher added: "we have informed the American official that Egypt is worried on that the US did not meet the Israeli behavior by the necessary measures, stressing that the Israeli aggressive practices endanger peace in the region and expose the interests of the countries of the region and the US to dangers."

Maher continued "whatsoever the Israeli practices, it will never be able to undermine the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and their determination to reject the Israeli occupation and the restoration of their full right, especially their right to establishing their own independent state with Jerusalem as a capital."
