Syrian, Cypriot oil relations discussed

The Syrian minister of oil and mineral resources Muhammad Maher Jamal on Monday in Nicosia discussed with the Cypriot minister of commerce, industry and tourism Nicolas Rolandis cooperation relations between Syria and Cyprus in the areas of oil industry and gas and their investment.

The Syrian minister underlined the importance of such meetings which came at the aim to strengthen existing cooperation relations between the two countries and finding ways to develop them for the common interests of the two countries. He noted Syria's readiness to cooperate with Cyprus in the area of gas especially in providing Syrian natural gas to Cyprus through establishing a sea line extending from the exportation point on the Syrian coast to the Cypriot territories.

The Syrian minister also expressed Syria's readiness to increase the volume of oil commercial exchange and cooperation in the area of oil and gas production and exploration in the sea areas.

The Cypriot minister commended cooperation relations that exists between Syria and Cyprus, stressing the importance of developing and strengthening them in the areas of oil industry, and gas and their investments.

The two sides agreed to assign technicians concerned from the two countries to study means of cooperation areas debated between the two countries with the aim to reach a joint cooperation formula.
