The Governor of Quneitra Hilal al-Atrash on Saturday received the UN fact finding commission to inspect conditions of the Arabs in the occupied territories and the occupied part of the Syrian Golan. The committee is led by Sri Lanka's ambassador at the UN. Present the meeting was member of the Syrian parliament for the Golan area Midhat Saleh.

An attack on the Israeli defense ministry in Tel Aviv
In reply to the systematic practices conducted by the Israeli government against the Palestinians, the Palestinian citizen, from Jerusalem, Ali al-Joulani on Sunday carried out " a suicide attack" in Tel Aviv during which 10 Israeli soldiers were wounded and one settler was killed, according to the Israeli radio.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Saturday received a message from the Spanish King Juan Carlos. The message was delivered to the foreign minister Farouk al-Shara during his meeting with the Spanish ambassador in Damascus Javier Navoro. Talks, during the meeting, dealt with bilateral relations between the two countries. Go

The Jordanian King Abdullah II in a TV statement on Sunday accused certain Jordanian parties and press and trade unions organizations of " having links to foreign sides and damaging national unity" In the country but without defining these sides by name. Go

Syrian deputy premier for economic affairs Khaled Raad on Sunday in Damascus received the first deputy for the Japanese foreign minister. Talks dealt with means of developing relations between the two countries especially in the economic areas, commercial exchange, holding joint investment projects and making use of the Japanese expertise in these fields. The secretary of the PLO executive committee Mahmoud Abbas ( Abu Mazin) arrived in Damascus on Sunday. In an arrival statement to the press, Abu Mazin said that his visit to Damascus falls in the course of consultation with the Syrian leadership on vision towards the future. He added " I will brief the Syrian leadership with the current developments in the occupied Arab territories." Go

The Yemeni deputy foreign minister Muhammad Hussein Hatem has stressed the identical view points between Yemen and Iran in several issues in the framework of the UN, the Organization of the Islamic Conference OIC, the Non- Aligned Movement and the G- 77. Hatem commends the co-operation relations between the two countries, noting that these relations are witnessing notable progress. Go

The spokesman for the Sudanese army said that the government forces intercepted an attack launched by the rebels in al-Wahda province in the southern part of the country. The Sudanese news agency quoted Lt. gen. Muhammad Bashir Suleiman ( the spokesman) as saying that " a group of outlaws tried on Sunday morning to launch an aggression in the Western al-Nweir province, situated to the west of Mayoum city." He added that the aim of the rebels is to divert the attention and improve the deteriorated morals of those outlaws after their recent defeat in Teimour Wan Kay in al-Wahda province. Go

The Jordanian Bar- association will hold a general strike today "in denunciation of the ugly crimes committed by Israel against the Palestinians and in support of al-Aqsa Intifada" which is in its 11th month in confrontation of the Israeli practices. Go

Morocco's democratic labor confederation (CDT) has launched an appeal for "the setting up of an international protection force for the Palestinian people and condemned the state terrorism by the Israeli occupation forces." The CDT, which released a statement at the end of its weekly meeting, renewed its support to the creation of a Palestinian state with Al-Quds as its capital and criticized the US biased policy that encourages the state terrorism practiced by Islrael. A Moroccan ferry boat and a Spanish cargo boat collided Sunday afternoon off Algesiras, southern Spain, but no one was injured. Al-Mansour ferry boat, carrying Europe-settled Moroccans to the Southern port of Algesiras after they spend their holidays in Morocco, collided with a Spanish cargo boat loaded with cement, which was sailing towards Sebta, a Moroccan northern city still under Spanish rule.
