Maghreb union condemns Israeli aggressions against Palestinians
Maghreb-Palestine, Politics, 8/6/2001

The Arab Maghreb Union (UMA) has vehemently condemned the Israeli continuous aggressions against the unarmed Palestinian people and called the international community to secure the protection of the Palestinians.

The Arab Maghreb Union (UMA), which is following with deep concern the deterioration of the situation in the occupied territories in view of the Israeli continuous aggressions against the unarmed Palestinian people, firmly condemns these practices, the UMA secretary general, Mohamed Amamou, said in a statement released Saturday.

The UMA has repeatedly reaffirmed the Palestinian people's right to recover their legitimate rights, especially their right to establish an independent state with Al-Quds Acharif as its capital and the return of all refugees, the statement said.

The union calls the international community to shoulder its responsibility to put an end to the Israeli arrogant aggressions and to secure the protection of the Palestinian people, the statement said.

The UMA, whose secretariat general is based in Rabat, musters Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco and Tunisia.
