Sharon's crimes denounced in a meeting of African legal experts
Israel-Regional, Politics, 8/6/2001

A meeting for African legal experts has been held in Cairo recently for two days. It was attended by Chief Judge of South Africa and Head of the African Tribunal of War Criminals.

The participants discussed the case of former Chilean President Binoche and the trial of Ariel Sharon before Belgian courts according to international law for committing genocide crimes against the Palestinians as well as being accused of killing Egyptian POWs.

It is the first time for such a kind of meeting to be held in Cairo.

The participants also recommended that more efforts should be exerted to apply international law to crimes against humanity and that African states should have a major role in crystallizing these efforts.
