Exports of early fruits and vegetables decline by 10%

Moroccan exports of early fruits and vegetables declined by 10% up to last June 15, from 374,000 tons in 2000 to 338,000 tons in 2001.
The decline was mostly noticed in exports of tomatoes and other fruits which respectively regressed by 14 and 15% compared to the same period of last year, says the newsletter (Flash Agri) published by the agriculture, rural development, water and forests ministry.
Tomato exports reached 186,000 tons, various fruits (38,000 tons) and various vegetables (67,000 tons).
Exports go mainly to Europe which received 93% of total exports while eastern countries only took 3% against 7% in the previous campaign.
