Official source rejects Shaath's statements
Egypt-Palestine, Politics, 8/3/2001

An Egyptian official source voiced indignation for the statements by Mr. Nabil Shaaath, minister of planning and international cooperation in the Palestinian national authority, to Abu Dhabi TV channel when he made fun of Arab leaders and unreal expositions.

The source told MENA that Shaath out-stepped the decency that any official should keep, especially if he knows well the facts and actions done by the Arab countries for the interest of the Palestinian cause. He stressed the fact that Shaath should not have been involved in irresponsible statements, in which he mixed up the public and the personal affairs, apparently for incentives that seem serious but they are actually prejudiced.

The source expressed regret for the lower-leveled style and the vulgar phrases used by Mr. Havez al-Bargouthi advisor of President Arafat when he denied every Arab act and dubbed the Arab general performance as weak, paralyzed and degenerated.
