EU rejects giving privileges to Israel products

European commission in Brussels decided to refer the issue of products manufactured in Israeli settlements in Gaza strip, West Bank, East Jerusalem and occupied Syrian Golan height to a private committee to discuss whether these products will enjoy the privileges set by European- Israeli partnership.

This comes in accordance with the union's stance that rejects giving this privilege as these goods are produced in the occupied lands.

A report by the European commissioner in Cairo pointed out that a meeting was held between Israeli and European officials with the aim of using computers in issuing certificates of origin to goods produced by Israel.

The report said that the Israeli officials attempted to give the partnership agreement preferential treatment to their goods.

However, the EU officials decided to postpone hearing Israeli suggestions in this regard and to refer it to a technical committee.

The report, moreover, said that in case this committee didn't reach any practical solutions before next November, the issue would be referred to a new ethics committee in accordance with the European -Israeli partnership agreement.

On the other hand, a public opinion poll carried out by European commissioner between Israeli businessmen and workers at the Israeli private sector said that more than 58.5% of Israeli businessmen are convinced that the Israeli economy is going through its worst condition.

The poll, moreover, highlighted that 37.2% of Israeli businessmen believes that Israeli economy is good.
