Inter-Arab investments grow by 4.3% in 2000

Inter-Arab investments reached in 2000 some US$ 2.28 billion, posting a 4.3% growth compared to 1999, says the Arab Investments Guarantee Organization.
Tunisia received the largest Arab investments, with US$ 669.4 million, followed by Lebanon (US$ 350 million), Sudan (US$ 330.5 million), the United Arab Emirates (US$ 196 million), Syria (US$ 191 million) and Egypt (US$ 112 million).
Morocco only attracted US$ 21.7 million, accounting for 0.95% of total Arab investments.
These six countries have taken 81.2 % of the total Arab investments of which 82.2% were injected in the services sector.
The organization also says Arab countries attracted in 2000 about US$ 9.5 billion in foreign investments.
