On cabinet reshuffle in Syria
Syria, Politics, 8/2/2001

Well-informed Syrian sources expected a ministerial reshuffle within two weeks, noting that this reshuffle will target most of old ministers in the government of Muhammad Mustafa Miro.

The Lebanese daily "al-Lewa" issued on Wednesday quoted the said well-informed sources as saying that the criterion in choosing the candidates will be efficiency and cleanness ( not corrupted). An inclination which President Bashar al-Assad has ever sought to consolidate since he assumed power in Syria in July 2000.

These sources continued that several governors will join the new government especially those who have administrative expertise and vocational capabilities. The Lebanese paper added that the printing law is expected to be issued in September and this will be followed by an amendment in the National Progressive Front and the introduction of new parties to it.
