Syria-Japan, Politics, 7/31/2001
Japan's deputy foreign minister will arrive in Damascus on August 4 in a visit to Syria which will last for two days.
This is, however, the first visit for a high ranking Japanese official since the formation of the new Japanese government in April this year.
The Japanese deputy FM will hold talks with Syrian officials dealing with the situation in the region and latest developments concerning the suspended ME peace process as a result of the Israeli intransigence as well as bilateral relations between Syria and Japan.
The Japanese deputy FM will also visit the Japanese contingent working within the context of UNDOF ( UN forces disengagement forces in the Golan).
