Developments in at Aqsa Morgue very serious
Regional-Palestine, Politics, 7/30/2001
Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa said the current developments taking place in Al-Aqsa precincts are "very serious" and signal the Israelis' bad intentions that could lead to the most serious repercussions.
In statements upon arrival on Sunday returning from Libya, Moussa said during his six-day tour of the Arab Maghreb countries he held talks with the leaders of the Arab Maghreb countries on the latest developments in the Palestinian territories, especially what was going on at AL Aqsa grounds and the plan devised to reform and restructure the Arab League.
Asked about convening a special Arab summit, Moussa said this issue is under serious debate and there are contacts between Palestinian President Yasser Arafat and the Arab leaders in this respect.
"Everyone should be ready for the worst scenario in the Middle East, as 'wound-healing' policies are of no avail in the current situation," Moussa said.
He said he reaffirmed this fact in a number of contacts he made with Arab officials for consultation on the deteriorating circumstances in that occupied territory.
What is going on in the Occupied territories constitutes a dangerous development, demonstrating ill intentions and boding ill for the region.
Addressing those who think that the "Arab body" is frail, Moussa said the Arabs still have the power to defend their sanctities.
Asked whether the Arab League had received calls from some Arab public figures to open the door for Jihad to defend Islamic Holy Sites, moussa said Jihad did not require a decision from the Arab League.
What is happening in the occupied AL Quds (Jerusalem) constitutes a serious provocation to be added to other previous provocative incidents by Israel, Moussa noted.
