Rayan, Boeing Chairman meet on EgyptAir crash
Egypt-USA, Local, 7/30/2001
EgyptAir Chairman Mohamad Faheem Rayan will hold talks on Monday with chairman of the US Boeing Company and discuss with him the latest developments in the investigation into the crash of an EgyptAir plane off the US east coast in 1999.
Rayan said that a future plan would be drawn up between EgyptAir and Boeing to reach a balanced decision on the incident, especially after the Egyptian investigation team presented all responses that completely refuted the possibility that co-pilot Gamil Al-Batouti downed the plane in an act of suicide, which had no bases.
He said that the talks would also deal with the technical problems in the ill-fated plane, which were raised and detected by EgyptAir experts.
On the lawsuit filed by a number of Boeing lawyers before US courts, in which they accused the plane's co-pilot of committing suicide, Rayan said there is also a lawsuit in Egypt against Boeing on the technical problems in the plane which caused the accident.
On the deadline for issuing the final report on the cause of the fall of the EgyptAir plane, Rayan said the Egyptian side sent all responses and investigations on the points raised in the final draft report.
