King chairs over function on Throne Day

Morocco's King Mohammed VI, who was accompanied by his brother Prince Moulay Rachid, by Emir of Bahrain Sheikh Hamad Ben Aissa Al-Khalifa and by President of Equatorial-Guinea Theodoro Obieng Nguema, chaired Monday noon at the Marshan Palace in Tangiers over a reception on the occasion of the Throne Day, marking this year the second anniversary of the sovereign's enthronement.

The sovereign was greeted by the cabinet members, led by Premier Abderrahmane Youssoufi, the speakers of the two houses of the Moroccan parliament, several civilian and military senior officials, the deans of the Arab, African, Asian, European and diplomatic corps accredited to Morocco, the archbishop of Rabat, the chairman of the Evangelic Church in Morocco, the chairman of the Greek Orthodox church, the chief rabbi in Morocco and delegates of Islamic associations in Spain.

The sovereign was greeted by several other personalities including the environment minister of Columbia, the defense minister of Gabon, a minister of state and a presidential advisor of Equatorial Guinea, Mania Said Al-Oteiba, Felipe Gonzalez, and Karim Wade.

Special representative of the UN secretary general, William Eagleton, and commander of the MINURSO forces, General Claude Buze, were also among the personalities having greeted the sovereign.

On this occasion, King Mohammed VI decorated several personalities. These included General Alain Charles Constantini, commander of the north-multinational brigade in Kosovo, to whom the sovereign granted the Grand cordon of the Military Merit Wissam distinction.

The king also decorated Minister of foreign affairs and cooperation, Mohamed Benaissa, with the Wissam Al-Arch- Commander order, and decorated secretary general of the government, Abdessadek Rabia, secretary of state for foreign affairs and cooperation, Taieb Fassi Fihri, and Colonel Major M'Hamed Kouch, in charge of the sovereign's military secretariat, with Wissam Al-Arch, Officer Order.
