Egypt, Local, 7/28/2001
Egyptian Minister of Culture Farouq Hosni said a world company was assigned to lighten the temple of queen Hatshepsut, west of Luxor, to allow night visits following an integrated project carried out by the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) in association with the Polish government to restore the temple.
Secretary-General Gaballah Ali Gaballah said the Polish side was assigned to prepare studies on the lighting project which will take three months at a cost of LE 1 million.
Upper Egypt Antiquities Director Sabri Abdel-Aziz said the project falls within the SCA's plan to lighten the archaeological area in the Valley of the Kings and Queens for the possibility to visit it by night.
