Haig expects an Israeli aggression against Iran
Iran-Israel, Politics, 7/27/2001
Former US secretary of state Gen. Alexander Haig has expected that Israel will direct a military blow to Iran if Iran will continue to implement its nuclear program.
n a statement to the Israeli Jerusalem Post issued on Wednesday, Haig strongly stressed that the Iranians have to know that developing nuclear weapons will expose them to the dangers of an Israeli attack or what might be worse if they think of using these weapons.
Haig was one of the two figures in the administration of the former US President Roland Reagan who openly defended the attack launched by Israel against the Iraqi ( Tammuz) nuclear reactor in 1981.
Haig's statements came just one day after the detention of an American citizen in Spain convicted of selling the composition of nuclear weapons to Israel. Richard Kelly Smith was arrested two years ago after he had been fleeing from the justice for 16 years after he was convicted by an American court in 1985 of violating the laws of selling nuclear items. The Israelis fear that Smith will give information about the Israeli nuclear programs.
