More killings among the Palestinians
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 7/26/2001

The Israeli forces on Wednesday killed one of the activists of the Palestinian national resistance movement Hamas in Nablus in the occupied West Bank, according to a statement by the Israeli army.

In its statement, the Israeli army admitted that an Israeli unit carried out on Wednesday an operation against Salah Darwazeh, a member in the Hamas movement and gave no details about this matter. The statement claimed that Darwazeh ( 36 year old) was planning to carry out a large operation against Israeli settlers inside the occupied Palestinian territories.

Darwazeh was killed when the Israeli forces fired 4 missiles at his car near al-Ein ( the eye) camp for the Palestinian refugees near nablus. Eye- witnesses said that he was driving his car and was alone in it when the Israeli assassination operation was carried out.

A spokesman for Hamas said that the movement will revenge the killing of Darwazeh and will be hesitate to revenge his death crime which it described as "brutal."

The spokesman explained that Darwazeh belongs to the political wing of the Hamas movement and not to the military wing and that he was arrested for several times by the Israelis before his assassination.

Meantime, Palestinian sources said on Wednesday that one Palestinian security man and one Israeli soldier and one settler were wounded during fire exchange and the Israeli destruction of a position for the Palestinian national security in Rafah near Mourag settlement to the south of Gaza.

On Wednesday the Israeli occupation forces handed the bodies of two Palestinians to the Palestinian Authority following a detention of two months.

Palestinian sources said the two killed Palestinians, who were arrested just one month near the Palestinian Qabatyah village of Jenin district were taken to one of the investigation centers of the Israeli army and were interrogated " in a very Nazi way and then they were tortured to death at the hands of the Israelis." The Israeli radio admitted the killing of the two Palestinians but claimed they were killed during armed confrontation with the Israeli soldiers near Qabatyah just one month ago.
