Khaddam concludes a two-day successful visit to Iran

Syrian vice - President Abdul Halim Khaddam returned back to Damascus on Wednesday following a visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran lasted for two days.

During his visit Khaddam handed a message from President Bashar al-Assad to the Iranian President Muhammad Khatami pertaining to the developments of conditions under Israel's escalation of the aggressive acts and Israel's threats against the countries of the region.

Khaddam met with the spiritual guidance of the Iranian revolution Ali Khameini and held talks with the Iranian vice President Hassan Habibi.

In a pre-departure statements at Tehran's airport Khaddam said that the talks he held in Iran were very good " during which we discussed all issues of mutual concern." He added:" our view points were identical concerning all these issues and therefore exchanging view points is part of the history of relations between Syria and Iran." Khaddam also noted President Bashar al-Assad's care to hold such a visit in order to discuss developments in the region and other issues of bilateral concern." For his part Habibi said in a similar statement that during the past 20 years, Syrian- Iranian relations have been witnessing notable progress.

He added that this visit came in the framework of exchanging view points continuously and regularly. He explained in every such meeting:" we proceed forward and talks about co-operation at the level of the region and also at the regional and international levels, and we also maintain a dialogue towards further promotion of bilateral relations.

Habibi praised the development of economic relations between the two countries, noting that all such reciprocated visits are a great success.
