Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Tuesday evening received a telephone call from the Jordanian King Abdullah II. During their talks the two leaders discussed conditions in the region and their development. Go

Morocco's King Mohammed VI received on Tuesday afternoon at the royal palace in the northern city of Tetuan Yves de Chaisemartin, chief executive officer of Le Figaro (French media group) and SOCPRESSE company which publishes some 80 dailies, weeklies and magazines in France and in the world. Go

"Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's talks with Italian President Carlo Ciampi and Premier Silvio Berlusconi centered on efforts exerted to rescue the peace march in the Middle East and halt the deteriorating conditions in the region," said Egyptian Information Minister Safwat El Sherif. "The two sides also exchanged views on ways to activate resolutions adopted by the G-8 leaders during their summit held recently in Genoa, Italy," El Sherif said. Go

The Jordanian King Abdullah II will pay a visit to federal Russia on August 27 in a visit which will last for three days. Go

The Tunisian President Zein al-Abidin Bin Ali on Tuesday issued an Amnesty for several prisoners. This Amnesty was taken on the occasion of the 44th anniversary of the Republic's day which falls today. The new amnesty covered reducing the imprisonment period. Go

Syria has set a list of 64 projects open for private investment, according to the Syrian weekly al-Iqtisadeya, quoting a statement made by the minister of Tourism Qasem Miqdad. Go

The Jordanian weekly al-Majd said in its recent issue issued on Monday in Amman that the Jordanian ministry of the Interior has recently dropped the Jordanian nationality from member of the executive committee of the PLO Asaad Abdul Rahman, his wife and children. Go
