Israel prevents the Arabs of 1948 from visiting Syria

The Israeli government announced on Sunday it will propose, as soon as possible, to the Israeli Knesset a law banning the travel of its Arab members to Syria.

The secretary general of the Israeli government Jedoun Sa'ar said that the government decided unanimously to propose such a project to the Knesset.

In June the Israeli attorney general announced to open criminal investigations against Azmi Beshara, the Arab member in the Israeli Knesset, following the statements he made in support of people's struggle against Israel. The statements Beshara made upon his recent visit to Syria.

On the other hand, the Palestinian poet Samih al-Qasem described the Israeli decision which prevents him from traveling to Lebanon as " fool" and a persistence on the Israeli arrogance.

Al- Qasem said that this decision is an evidence on the Israeli escalation, not against " me personally" but also against the one million Arabs who live under the Israeli occupation since 1948.

He added "I do not deal with this decision ( the decision of the Knesset) as a personal measure, rather it is a decision against every thing that comes from people. It is also an attempt to prevent contacts between me and my brothers in the Arab homeland. It is not an evidence of might, It is an evidence on the weakness of the Israeli authorities."

He continued." Personally.. It pleases me that the military force balance between my poem and Israel inclines to the interest of my poem." He noted that the decision taken preventing him from traveling shows the extent of Israel's fears not only from the bullets of the resistance men and their stones but also of the free word and the role played by the Arab media and unmasking the Israeli practices before the world public opinion.
