Egyptian-Spanish memo of understanding to activate economic ties
Egypt-Spain, Economics, 7/23/2001

The Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Barcelona, Spain, will provide the Egyptian Trade Representation Office (ETRO) with a new headquarters free of charge for promoting local exports in the Spanish market, ETRO Chairman El-Sayed Kassem said.

He referred to the memorandum of understanding signed between the Egyptian Ministry of Economy and the Spanish Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

"The Spanish offer came as a result of Minister of Economy Youssef Boutros Ghali's efforts with Spanish officials to enhance joint cooperation between the two countries," said Kassem.

"The Spanish Chamber and the Egyptian commercial attache in Barcelona will select economic cooperation projects that could be promoted in the Spanish market, especially ones that involve marketing Egyptian products in the Spanish market," said Kassem.

"Barcelona Trade Office will also provide economic and trade information about the Spanish market to Egyptian importers and exporters," noted Kassem.
