Morocco hails success of Bonn conference on climatic changes
Regional-Morocco, Environment, 7/23/2001
Morocco welcomed this Monday the success of the conference of parties to the convention of climatic changes which adopted over the weekend mechanisms for the enforcement of the Kyoto protocol.
Morocco's delegate to the conference said "it is a great day for delegations and for the public opinion," before congratulating the conference chairman Dutch Jan Pronk, for efforts to bring closer opinion of various regions.
He added that Morocco has already started preparations for the upcoming conference to be held in Marrakesh next October, assuring participants that Morocco will spare no effort for the success of the conference.
Several countries have pledged to bring financial and technical support to the 7th conference on climatic changes.
Some breakthrough was recorded in Bonn, but everybody agrees that the major decisions will only be reached in the Marrakesh meeting, although the task promises to be tough and complicated.
