Jordanian parliamentary elections in July 2002

Well-informed Jordanian sources said that the Jordanian government has completed the appendix relating to the parliamentary elections law and decided to convene a special session next week to approve the system which state to define the number of seats in the parliament and the parliamentary circles.
The sources explained that the provisional elections law and its related system will be issued in a special issue of the " official newspaper" during next week.
The sources explained that the parliamentary elections will be held in July 2002, noting that the measures that should be taken several months before the elections need especially in regard to issuing lists of voters of reducing the age of the voters from 19 years old to 18 years old and issuing the IDs, besides reconsidering the distributions of the election circles.
The sources said that the system relating to the elections law includes increasing the number of seats of the parliament from 80 to 104. Also, the number of seats dedicated to circles of high population density like Amman and al-Zarqa will be increased.
