Saudi Arabia to buy equipment to fight chemical weapons from the Czech
Saudi Arabia-Czech Republic, Military, 7/23/2001

The Czech daily " Mlada Fronta" said in its Saturday's issue that the Saudi military delegation, led by the army chief of staff Lt. Gen. Saleh Bin Ali Mahya which continues its visit to Prague, showed his country's desire to buy special cars and equipment and laboratories for fighting chemical weapons.

The said paper quoted Lt. Gen. Mahya as saying that Czech is among the countries that are seriously nominated by al-Riyadh to buy the special weapons on fighting chemical weapons and that the Czech army is able to train Saudi soldiers in this regard.

In this regard, the Czech defense minister Yaroslav Tafridick told the same paper that the Saudi request won the interest of the Czech officials at the economic and political levels. He added that he will ask the government to help in this regard and that he had agreed with his finance minister on the need to support this project.
