Qatar urged to reconsider inviting Israel to trade conference
Qatar-Israel, Politics, 7/23/2001

A statement released in Kuwait on Sunday by the general secretariat of the people's conference to resist normalization with Israel in the Gulf region described Israel's attending of any meeting or conference to be held in an Arab state as a " stab " in the " chest of the militants in Palestine." The statement denounced Israel's participation in the fourth conference of the World Trade Organization due to be held in Doha on November 9th.

The statement indicated that Qatar's acceptance of an Israeli delegation to attend Doha conference at a time when it ( Qatar) presides over the Organization of the Islamic Conference OIC current session is explained as an " Islamic acceptance of Israel." The general secretariat urged officials in Qatar to reconsider its declared position and to refuse accepting the Israeli delegation or to apologize for hosting the conference if it is not possible to refuse the Israeli presence..

The general secretariat also urged the Arab and Muslim states to boycott the conference if Israel will take part.
