Mubarak, first President to stand seriously against overpopulation
Egypt, Culture, 7/21/2001

Rapporteur of the National Council for Population Maher Mahran warned against the seriousness of over-population problem.

He stressed that President Hosni Mubarak has been the first president to stand against the problem seriously and sincerely.

Mahran stressed the necessity of cooperation between a number of elements to face over-population problem.

"The foremost of those elements would be raising the awareness of the problem via direct local contact," he pointed out.

"Such contact would be run through prominent figures and mosque preachers," he added.

Mahran called for extending Family Control services to all villages in other ways plus mass media.

This came within the ceremony, marking reaching the final blueprint on population and family control strategic schemes of Ismailia, Port Said and Suez.
