Five anti- torture International organizations have called on the Danish government to refuse accepting the credentials of the next Israeli ambassador in Denmark, the former chairman of the Israeli intelligence department Karmi Jeilon as well as to abide by its obligations towards the UN anti- torture treaty.
News reports said that the said five organizations which belong to the coalition of the anti- torture non governmental international organizations expressed in a statement issued in Copenhagen their great concern over appointing Karmi Jeilon as an Ambassador for Israel in Denmark and asked the government that its policy and officials in charge at the Attorney general are making the inquiries and address the accusation against Jeilon if matters will relate to the violation of the UN anti- torture treaty.
The statement indicated the available information which include evidences on Jeilon's participation in several acts of tortures especially in his CV in which he admits that he gave his instructions for members of the Israeli intelligence to use torture during investigations of the Palestinians detainees.
The statement added:" we want to urge the government to abide by its obligations in the framework of the treaty against torture and concerning all international laws and want to remind it by its duty as a state which ratified the anti- torture treaty to start investigations on the role played by Jeilon in the grave violations of this treaty and to sue him for his crimes.
The statement bears the signature of the five following organizations: " The international council for rehabilitation of the victims of torture; the society in charge of preventing torture; the Christian International Federation for the move to cancel torture; the international society against torture and the Red Race federation."
Jeilon, who is a former chairman for the Shein Beit will assume his tasks in September. In statements he made recently to Danish media, Jeiron supported resorting to physical pressures against the Palestinian detainee
