Iraqi accusations against Iran
Iraq-Iran, Politics, 7/21/2001

Iraq on Friday accused Iran of obstructing the efforts aiming at improving relations between the two countries and considered that there is lack of a political will in Tehran to that end.

Replying to statements made by the Iranian foreign minister Kamal Kharazi on Wednesday in which he said that Iraq does not have the political will to improve relations between the two countries, the Iraqi deputy premier Tareq Aziz said it is very regrettable that Kharazi says that Iraq does not have the political will to improve bilateral relations when Iraq has repeatedly expressed the desire to solve the problems with Iran and establish natural relations and good neighborly ties with it.

The Iraqi official asserted, once again, that there is no one single Iranian prisoner in Iraq, noting that on the other side there are still several thousands Iraqi prisoners in Iran.
