Morocco-EU ties reviewed in Rabat
Morocco-European Union, Politics, 7/19/2001

Ties between Morocco and the European Union (EU), the Euro-Mediterranean process and preparations for the upcoming conference of the World Trade Organization were reviewed at a meeting in Rabat Wednesday between Moroccan industry, trade, energy and mining minister, Mustapha Mansouri, and visiting European MP Pere Esteve.

Mansouri briefed Esteve, who is in charge of elaborating the EU annual report on Euro-Med cooperation, on the economic reforms implemented by Morocco to prepare its economy for the entry into force of a free trade zone with EU in 2010.

The Moroccan official stressed the need to increase EU investments in Morocco.

He also noted that Morocco and EU share the same views regarding the issues on the agenda of the WTO ministerial conference, due next November 9-13 in Doha Qatar, especially the need to take into account the interests of developing nations in the multilateral trade system.
