UAE ready to help Somalia

The Somali President Abdi Qasem Salad Hassan has stressed that President of the United Arab Emirates UAE Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan al-Nahyan promised him during their talks in Abu Dhabi to give aid to rebuild Somalia.

The Somali President added that he briefed Sheikh Zayed with the developments and conditions and steps of reconciliation so far made among the Somali people. He asserted that the UAE president promised to make all his efforts to provide Arab aids to Somalia in order to maintain security and stability.

In a press conference he held at Zayed's center for co-ordination and follow up in Abu Dhabi in the second day of his official visit, the Somali President unveiled that the European Union EU member states promised to give him aid. He also expressed hope that the Arab, African and other friendly states will also provide prompt aid to Somalia.

He added that contacts have been made with China, Russia and the US for the same purpose. He, in this respect stressed that Washington and other countries which are the permanent member states at the UN Security Council are concerned to the return of security, stability and development to Somalia.

He said that the provisional government in Somalia is making studies to estimate the volume of aid in order to carry out projects to rebuilding and development in the country in collaboration with the Islamic bank for Development.
