Mubarak plays main role in 'La Francophonie' organization

La Francophonie Secretary-General Boutros Ghali Tuesday, said President Hosni Mubarak plays main role in supporting the organization.

In an exclusive interview with MENA, Ghali described President Mubarak's role as excellent and constructive, asserting his interest in rendering a success the organization's performance at all levels.

He said every time he arrives in Cairo he presents a comprehensive report on the organization to the President, who is one of the prominent leaders of the organization.

Mubarak visits France twice a year and Francophone issues are always on the agenda of talks with French officials, he pointed out.

He referred to the fact that Senghor University is based in Alexandria, saying it reflects Egypt's. concern with the organization.

As for the role of the organization at the political level, Ghali noted important political stances regarding many issues and joint activities with other regional and international organization such as the United Nations, the Arab League, the Commonwealth and the Organization of African Unity.

Regarding obstacles facing the organization, Ghali said they are similar to those faced by any other organization.

He voiced optimism over the future of the organization in terms of widening the scale of its activities.
