Sharon's war plan
Regional-Israel, Politics, 7/17/2001

The Jordanian weekly al-Jazira disclosed in its Monday's issue a plan set by the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon to declare a war against Syria and to assassinate Yasser Arafat and Hussein Nasrullah.

The paper added in a report for its political affairs editor, that Sharon, in order to get rid off his internal crisis gave his instructions to the defense ministry to prepare such a plan and to run a comprehensive war with Syria before the end of this year.

News reports said that Israel intended to launch this comprehensive war in the past month ( June) but the US refused this idea and stressed that its interests and security arrangements in the region will be greatly endangered if war will erupt at this timing.

These news reports said that Sharon has approved an urgent plan to assassinate the secretary general of the Hizbullah Party Hassan Nasrullah and a third plan to assassinate Yasser Arafat during the three coming months.
